good week here at codger central...kicked it off by attending the Pre Classic at Stanford last Sunday...great meet...love following the IAAF Diamond League series particularly during a World Championships season. I typically DVR them for consumption at a later date and do my best to avoid results so that I can watch with fresh eyes...watching sport when you know the outcome takes a lot of the joy oit of it...will be watching this past Friday’s meet from Lausanne later this afternoon...shhhhh don’t tell me any results ?
Speaking of track meets, our group of 90 has submitted for Olympic Trials seats...the meet administration typically affords us the opportunity to do a group buy in advance of the general public...as this will likely sell out, mark your calendar for 7/25...that’s when the ticket window opens.
OTs, particularly when in Eugene, are arguably the best meet in the galaxy. 2020 will be same format as recent Trials with 4 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on...so, as a spectator you can pick one 4 day package or another...or like the true track geek that I am, both.
This week was my biggest mileage of 2019...a massive 31 total miles including a 5,000 meters time trial on the track in 24:01 (thankfully, am still within 10 minutes of my PR...barely), a session of 6 x 200 (45,45, 45, 46, 43, 40) and a 6 miles track progression run in 53:48 with a blazing 7:28 closing mile...nothing fancy but sure beats the alternative.
Anybody in this group competing at USATF Masters Track Nationals?
lucky2be it’s good you’re making progress with the toe.
Have a stellar week of training, racing, grilling and whatever.
your pal,
MF
