A couple similar weeks as I mix a little bit of biking with a little bit of running. In 2017, I ran an AG 70% marathon off 20 mpw with some bicycling, but I'll probably need 80%, at least, to defend my M55-59 title in the 15K. I turn 60 a day after the race, so it'll be especially challenging racing the 55-year-olds.
amkelley - Congrats on the half-marathon. Best time in two years (and 9 HM's) is truly impressive, and great vindication and affirmation after your marathon. Still considering SF marathon? Hope you had a good bike ride yesterday, if you got out. I was suffering during my final 10 miles, and can't imagine facing 150 more miles six weeks from now (planned 200 miles with my brother).
SCgal - What a fantastic adventure. The river swim is an especially amazing feat. Wow! Congrats. Really enjoyed reading your narrative.
Coyote - Congratulations to your son, and to you for the fine 5K results. It's not easy to keep going after a fast start like that. Is Boilermaker still on your summer calendar? Maybe I'll head down I-90 and check it out, myself. Believe it or not, I've never run it, although I've raced a few other 15K's along the I-90/Erie Canal corridor (Buffalo, Palmyra, Schenectady -- at least twice each).
Igy - Great to see your continued build; I didn't add it up, but I think your weekly mileage is ahead of mine.
Charlie - I'm looking forward to your 5000m. Gonna be fun to follow your prep over the next few weeks. As for your "mileage since 40" question, I can only say "not much" and "off-an-on." I've recorded my training only sporadically.
Mike L - Solid result in the Corporate Challenge. Sorry your wife couldn't run.
Mkarver - Going from 12:15 to 11:46 is a very nice improvement.
old guy II - 50 miles is an impressive week; hope the hamstring is better. Next race?
paul061 - Unplanned trips OVER the handlebars would probably kill me. And 5 yards of topsoil is one heckuva workout.
socalcush - I always enjoy reading your accounts! Glimpses into the elite world.
Have a good week, everyone. Be well!
