Something under my right glute is still sore a week after my half, but it loosens up after a mile or so.
KC, my experience has been that it has almost always been upper hamstring attachment causing that pain. Sadly, at our age it usually takes a long time to go away.
And this could be due to tightness on hip flexor. When my glute hurts (like after long hours of driving), the first thing I try is stretching my hip flexor. And if only one side hurts, it could be that your pelvis is tilted. Or it could be that your spine is not straight. (All of the above happened to me in the last five years.)
My week.
M: off.
T-SA: 6 miles.
SU: 8.8 miles.
Sunday's run didn't go as well as I had hoped. My plan was to go 8km easy and 6km @ MP. But keeping the pace under 5min/km felt much harder than it should. The temperature was in mid-70s, although the humidity was pretty low. Still it was probably too warm to run for 70+ min without any fluid. So take away is to avoid the bike trail under warm weather, and stick to the loop in a part, and get plenty of fluid.
My half is on Saturday, and I have no idea what to expect. I am grossly undertrained both in quantity and quality. But at least I should be able to beat my PW (1:49:xx) easily.
