*Week 406*
Greetings, 50+ers! Well, I relapsed into distracted mode again this week. Only managed to get two decent runs in and a bit of walking. If I could get my self going first thing in the morning, my troubles would be solved, but I'm just not able to get myself out the door in the AM like I used to. Not feeling a sense of urgency is contributing, but there is a physiological aspect to it, too. I'm not going to get in to the litany of reasons this week; let's just say other things tended to squeeze out the free time as each day wore on. I'll turn it around eventually, in that I have some confidence. I don't have any more conferences to attend this semester, so there is that.
Meanwhile, glad to see some good training from a whole slew of you all! Gives me inspiration and hope that I can rejoin the effort. Definitely not going to get deep into the diet debate (or the others...I don't have enough knowledge to debate them intelligently....there's a reason I went into physics and not biology.) In my heart, I know that I should cut out meat. I've cut back, certainly, and especially on red meat, but it's been a lifelong habit. I have many friends who are vegetarian (and even vegan) distance/tri athletes and they are doing great on plant-based diets. Yes, you need to be more conscious of what and how you eat, but I think that it's not that complicated. I'd be hard-pressed to give up cheese, though (must be the Wisconsin in me.) My daughter is mostly vegetarian, though she will eat fish a few times a month and she is now into body-building; at 5'2" she can dead-lift more than I can.
Welcome Mkarver, that's a nice 5k time and some nice 400/1000 repeats, too. Hard to not call yourself a real runner with those workouts and those times. Will look forward to seeing how you progress into your 50s!
Sorry for my paltry report, hope you've had more success. Have a great week everyone!
All the Best!
