Hi, Dave. I’ve been running a little bit all along, but after my back problems 10 years ago I moved primarily into strength training, CrossFit, stuff like that. It’s not quite the same as running though I think it has prolonged my ability to go hard. A hard WOD doesn’t take a ton of time, either.
I gave up XC coaching two years ago after getting my longtime assistant the position. I assisted him for a year in order to smooth the transition. Last spring was my last as head track coach. Was fun to go out with very good 4x1, 4x2, 4x8. Now I just teach, which feels like just a part time job after all those years of very long days.
I’m impressed to see so many 50+ doing structured workouts and long runs.
