I am 65 inches and have weighed 130 as an adult, and that is definitely somewhat chunky even by non-runner standards. I did my best running at about 105 pounds. I'm now around 112, which is a good compromise between what looks good and what works well. I don't think many top female distance runners are as heavy as 130 pounds at 5'5".
Good points.
Come to think of it, 130 pounds seems heavy even for a 5'5" male marathoner. At the elite level, anyway.
Today I am dipping back into Ron Daws's classic book, "The Self-Made Olympian." Lots of common sense and inspiration. You can't find a copy of this book on Amazon for a reasonable price, which is a pity, because everyone should read it.
Daws was a slow guy who kept at it and worked really hard and smart, and eventually was able to maximize his abilities and make it to the 1968 Olympics.
Sadly, even though I buy into almost everything Daws says, I can't emulate his methods. I was never able to do hard workouts without breaking down.
We all do what we can!
