Week 303
*************************
Salutations, 50+ers! Sorry for the late start today. Had a busy morning taking care of some essentials. Good week on the roads, though many runs were not my ideal. Much of the running came via commutes with a backpack to/from (mostly from) work. Managed 31.5 miles on 6 days (and 7-ish runs); so in that regard it was a week of weight training (as if my spare tire weren't enough.) Log reads as such:
Sun: 5.1 easy (8:09/mi)
Mon: Off
Tue: 4.0 6xBraemer Hill Loops (7:14/mi, 400 ft elev gain)
Wed: 4.0 w/10-lb pack (7:58/mi)
Thu: 5.3 w/4.0 grass (8:09/mi)&1.3 w/12-lb pack (8:04/mi)
Fri: 8.0 w/9-lb pack (4.0 noon @7:30/mi, 4.0 6pm @8:21/mi)
Sat: 5.1 w/8-lb pack (7:41/mi first 4, 8:25/mi last 1.1)
Other than the hills Tuesday, which pretty much wiped me out, I would classify most the running this week in the moderately easy to moderate range. 18.4 miles were with a pack of varying weights. Paces with a pack are hard to gauge, especially when it's point-to-point and as windy as it's been around here. For example, Friday noon was out @7:30/mi, while Friday back was @8:21/mi. The out was a bit harder, but not THAT much harder. Saturday's first 4 was the hardest of the pack running with 2.5 into a stiff wind and moderately up hill; I had to stop and walk for a while before I finished easy the last 1.1.
-Read a lot of good inspiring workouts last week! Nice to see so many of you rounding into shape this time of year. Cush, your speed-training program seems to be working well. Will be interested to see how it all turns out next week. Good Luck!
-Props amkelley and Big Red (PR) on your fine HM races.
-I'm always a bit slack-jawed reading mo'pak's posts...quite the adventure. Truth be told, I keep up on FB, so I've seen the pics! Pretty awesome stuff.
-DKaae, hope you figure out what's causing the sudden breathing issues. That is a bit alarming how suddenly it comes on and might need to be looked at professionally through a stress test, especially if you've not had a history of allergy related issues.
-Thanks, Charlie, for the cajoling. I deserve the snark. I did take off a couple lbs this week; now sitting in the 188-189 range. However, suggesting a Wisconsin boy lay off the cheese is a hard sell. :-P
OK. That's what I've got this week. Really hoping not to be running with a pack this week. I'm finding 4-miles is about my range with the pack, and I need to go longer.
Sad about my Badgers; it was yet another epic thriller of a game, sorry they ended up on the wrong end of it. Still have the UK Wildcats to cheer for (much to the chagrin of my Tarheel uncle.)
What's happening in your world?
All the Best!
