Week 221
*************************
Greetings, 50+ers! A full week of running for this last full week of August culminating with a full moon! :-) Humidity was down this week, making for more enjoyable running. They weren't very long runs, but I was out every day, and I logged ~35 miles in the end with a fair dose of what-passes-for-pace-these-days. Gretehund's ugh (really sorry about the hip, BTW, and hoping for the best) is my smiley-face.
Sun: 5.0 mostly easy (7:32 avg pace, 6:35 last mile)
Mon: 4.1 easy (7:37 pace)
Tue: 8.4 w/4x(4x400,200 recovery)
Wed: 4.1 easyish (7:27 pace)
Thur: 5.2 w/2.5 @6:33 pace
Fri: 4.3 (7:29 pace) harder than intended
Sat: 4.0 (7:44 pace) In a deluge!
Tuesday's track workout was 4 sets of 400's, where each set was a goal pace and they got progressively faster (1st set of 4 @HM pace, 2nd @10k,3rd @5k,4th @3k), took an extra 200 jog between sets). The set averages were: 101,97,91.5,86. Probably a tad on the fast side from my current condition, but effort-wise it felt good and it didn't wipe me out. Thursday afternoon's hard tempo felt surprisingly good; this 2.5 miles was at the same pace as the last two miles of the race last Saturday! The rest of the week was filler miles.
From last week, seems we're running the gamut from doing extremely well to major concerns. I guess that is to be expected. Here's to good outcomes in whatever phases you are at. As always, looking forward to reading what's happening in your neck of the woods. Any races to report?
All the Best!
