Week 144 (12x12)
*************************
Greetings, my 50+ colleagues. I didn't think this week could be busier than last week, but having to play catch-up on the school work due to the Science Olympiad, then throw in extra meetings to deal with our current budget crisis and cap the week with a marathon Faculty Council meeting (again to talk about budget), and I was wiped out this week. I think I averaged about 5 hours of sleep a night....not healthy or sustainable. As such, I didn't make it to the gym at all. I did run 3.3 @7:00 pace on Sunday (it felt like a 6:20 pace run when I've been in shape), did 3 miles of jog-walk (more jog than walk) Tuesday and Thursday, and a brisk 4 mile walk on Saturday. I forgot to mention that I tweaked my knee the week prior, so I laid off the deep squats this week; I should be able to return to those this week, also hope that I'll be able to get to the gym. Is my abdomen getting better? Hard to say. Lately it feels more tight and restrictive than painful, but I don't know whether that is real or just that I have adjusted to the discomfort.
Gretehund, glad to see you post again. I hope that the step back has rejuvenated your spirit. I have confidence that your persistence and tenacity will get you where you want to be, sooner or later.
WOC, I continue to be awed by your progress. I mentioned on FB how encouraged I am by your experiment of one. I really believe that you are on to something that could be a model for future treatments. Kudos!
AK-56, nice job on the skiing. MikeF, I think you might be just a little be crazy to do an ultra (and I mean that in a good way.) Racerdb, you've set yourself up for what I predict will be a pretty awesome spring racing season, weather be damned.
Glad to see so many of you getting after it (AlanB, Old guy II, Steve L, Rtype, 1500Master, mo'pak); SMTC, Spikez good luck at indoors. I'm just chomping the bit to join you all....but I know I've gotta be patient.
After that last arctic blast Monday morning, I can finally feel spring coming....although they are still predicting one more round later this week (ugh!) Hope that you all are continuing to do great things. Looking forward to reading about it! And if you haven't posted in a while, give us an update; whether we're training or rehabbing, it's all part of the experience.
Cheers!
