Has anyone run at ECU? If so, what is the course like??
Has anyone run at ECU? If so, what is the course like??
The course is at Lake Kristi, just outside of Greenville, NC. It's a small golf course and is relatively flat with a few rolling hills. You have to do a few loops on it for the 10K, but it's very fast. At the NC Intercollegiate Championships, Tommy Evans of High Point won with a mid to high 23. The course that day was saturated from the relentless rain that it recieved all of that Friday, but it still was fast.
Is it a definate PR course, or just average???
What is the footing like? Soft grass, hard dirt, mud, etc.?
Who cares what that guy from high point ran, it is obviously short. But what about the 10K? That is the distance that is run at Regionals, not a short 8K. What is the footing like, especially after a few days of rain? Does it utilize the woods at all, or is it all on open grass?
it is all open, they took out the wood part of teh course which is usually the slowest part of the course. And the part that the course was short it is not short at all it was measured twice after the race. The girls course endend up being 60 meters long. It is though a for sure PR course for your 10k. If you dont PR then you just had a real bad day and I bet you just got your butt kicked.
This course is BLAZING. The guy who said there were rolling hills must be from Florida, b/c there isn't a hill in sight. Cover a track with fairway grass and you have Lake Kristi. It is most definitely a PR course and people are going to fly this weekend. There is not a lot of property, so it must loop a bit for the 10k, but you will go so fast you won't be able to get bored. I'm excited to watch a great meet this weekend. Good luck to all who will be there.
i've heard that the course drains really well, and seeing as we're supposed to get socked with rain today that would be a problem. it does look like there will be some tight turns throughout the course, but besides that it will be blazing.
