jjjjjjjjjj,
I agree on Wheating and Webb (when in peak form) being able to beat the current Lagat at 1500. I could even see Monzano beating the current Lagat at 1500.
I think if Teg stays healthy, he'll be back to being in sub 13:00 shape by the time the WC roll around. Training with Solinsky, who he has always been better than and who is about equally as talented, will motivate him back to that level, imho.
In a kick (last 400) Teg beats Sol... even in a 12:55 type race. Teg can kick with Lagat. If sol tries to run the legs out of Teg and Lagat with 800 to go in an already fast race, I could see it playing out like this:
Sol takes lead 800 out, drives to a 60.?, Lagat on his heals, Teg a step or 2 in 3rd. With 250 to go, Lagat chomping on bit, Sol still driving (now running somewhere between 53-56 sec 400 pace), Teg, beginning to make a move.
150 to go, Lagat pulls up to pass Sol, Sol digs deep and keeps Lagat to the outside, Teg is boxed in right behind the 2.
100 to go, Lagat edges ahead of Sol, making space for Teg. Teg, having run in 3rd the last 700 meters has a little left and with 50 to go, get's by both of them to run 53 point in the last 400 to Lagat's 54 point and Sol's 54-55.
Again, I COULD see it happening... doesn't mean I think it will. But man would that be exciting.
I just think people forget about how good Teg is when he's not injured and has a nice block of serious training.
