dude...this field is totally stacked. and i'm not talking about LV. I'll say Bekele, Lagat, Rupp finish. Love the Americans in this race.

Solinsky and Teg are going to have to gut up to get in the mix. I hope the '07 '09 Teg shows up. I don't expect Rupp to do as well as those two but he might since he's been training with Farah. He did run outstanding at the NYC Half his last race. This is going to be a great indicator of what these guys can all do this year in Daegu. If one of the three American borns can beat Lagat, Kipchoge, Alamirew, and/or Bekele there's a good chance they can medal.
Yeah. I guess that's a pretty good field.
Interesting that Teg gets a mention but not Bumbalough. Bumbalough has shown all year that he's right there with Teg. Wouldn't be surprised to see him right there with him again in this two mile (both behind Rupp and Solinsky).
Wait a minute!!!!!
I thought we'd firmly established in an earlier thread that Solinsky, Teg, Rupp et at were all losers for not have the balls to face the best in the world in the 10k at Pre.
So this is the scrub race right?
I'm so confused...............
Solinsky and Lagat well under Tegs record. Rupp and Farah under 8:12. LV destroys Germans record.

Valid point.
This two mile is a good race and good preperation for USATF.
But they are still missing a rare opportunity to gain top level experience in the 10,000.
The race-within-a-race of Lagat,Solinsky, Rupp and Farah is going to be amazing. Normally I'd say Kip is a shoe-in, but the likely fast overall pace will help the others and dampen his kick.
Who cares. This thread is not about that. You may have lost your bearings, but that's OK. Once again, this thread is about the stacked 2 mile field at the June 4th Pre Classic. Get back on track and provide your thoughts on who you feel will perform well.
I believe Rupp will go under 8:10, with Farah, but behind lagat and Solinsky. Teg slips back and barely holds off Lucas.
Winner runs 8:00 flat

As one of those who criticized their absence in the 10k, I'll admit that I was wrong. I guess I just didn't believe that they could put together another field as good as the 10k, but they have. I can't wait.
....no....Jesus is not entered!

If they go sub 8:00 that will be great. I would like to see them go back-to-back sub 4s like Komen did.

Is Bumbalough in this race?
No doubt, Andy Bumbalough has proven he belongs in the most elite 5k - 10k training group in the country with his earlier performances. He's been able to keep pace with Solinsky and best Teg in the first half of 2011. But, he's not deserving of entry into this race yet. He's not proven himself at all against worldly competition and had a sub-par performance at World XC this year.
I cannot wait for this Rupp/Mo battle as well as the Americans taking on some outstanding Africans. We might see a number of National and Personal Bests.
Kudos to PRE for a fantastic field, even if the premier event remains the 10k. Rationally, they have fashioned national attention by including well-known American names, including LV, to attract even more interest in the event. Savvy!

You could be right and I hope that a couple of Americans compete with the elite and go for it, but Teg is the only American to ever go under 8:10, so until they do it, he is still the stud 2 miler!!!!
Would anyone bet real money that anyone but a Kenyan or Ethiopean will win this race? The field against Ken/Eth.
Takes some fun out the game.
Not even the great Bernard Lagat has more than a 10% chance of winning this thing.
How do you prove yourself in international competition if you're lack of having some prevents you from entering internationally competitive races?
Also I think he is in the race so there's no point in debating whether or not he should be invited.

Considering there are more than 10 men entered, I'd have to agree...
This field is the cream of the crop. If you can win against this field you can win gold medal at 5k.
Lagat will be top two for sure
