is there anywhere on the east coast that one could get beneficial altitude training. i guess there's the appalchian mts. but would you have to go live next to the fellas from Deliverance or what? any cities or larger towns? are the apps even high enough?
doubt it.
I did some base work in maine this summer and although the weather was a dream compared to S. LA, I was only a couple of hundred feet above if that much. Maybe the white Mts. in Hampshire or killington Vermont. You should reach hire levels of altitude. However the whole deliverance thing.
HEY- NOT a fair statement! I live in Maine and would bet that you cannot find nicer people ANYWHERE especially in the smaller towns. I would opt for the western mountains of Maine. Small altitude gain but beautiful mountains and terrain and peace and quiet. A running paradise. That being said, while I adore that part of Maine, I realized after seeing a wimpy city person miserable there in a short time, it isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Also, heard that the mountains in North Carolina have altitude (eastern but southeastern I guess)

I love your state. I spent most of my time in North Belgrade. I also enjoyed the unique harbour towns.(Bar Harbour, Camden,) Great place to live. Sister is planning to live their.
East coast of Africa, maybe.
I live in the White Mountains. I wouldn't say the elevation is anything that will help you but there are a lot of great trails and plenty of hills.
