Please, enlighten us...what is it he is attempting that has never been done before?!
1. He has never run sub-4 even when he has a miler.
2. His mile PR is from nearly decade ago.
3. He is only weeks removed from training to compete at 26.2 miles.
4. The marathoners that ran sub-4 off off marathon training were already sub-4 guys and spent time training specifically to run the mile...not exactly coming off of marathon training per se.
4. Ryan Hall's most recent 10k and 5k track performances have not been stellar and an even shorter distance will be more difficult.
5. Ryan Hall's lack of raw speed in MD was always evident, no body runs sub-4 with out a decent 800 capabilities to speak of.
6. Probably the most important things are the fact that this is a road mile (slower that the track), he has not had enough time to train for it and he does not have great track credentials to begin with. I actually think he could run sub-4 on the track if he trained and took a few cracks at it.
