But man she can throw down when she gets the stick in the back.
Am I the only one who thinks this sounds weird?

Must have had a tailwind. Nobody can run 2:03 low without one.
Splits are not taken (correctly, anyway) from the time that you get the stick but from the time that the stick passes the mid-point of the zone. There was some silliness, in my opinion, in a column that was confused by this same thing. It is simply not a useful statistic to time how long an individual has the stick; you need the standardization of the distance. Consider this example. Sprinter A runs the lead-off leg and hands early in the zone and sets a new record for the 100 by running 9.45 ------- for 92m.
Her teammates put her probably half a lap behind the next slowest and she jogged a 2:11.
A Jamaican schoolgirl ran 2:03-low anchor FTW.
P.S> the Jamaican ran 2:03.17 from way out front.
Ristananna Tracey (2:03.17)

Both of Wilson's splits (her 2:00 and 2:03)were taken by the finish line camera - so are as accurate as a normal FAT time in an individual.

Tracey will be named the high school athlete of the 2011 Penn Relays (both individual and relay):
56.17 new Penn Relays record in the 400m H
2:03.17 new Penn Relays best split in the 4 x 800m Relay
and she going to run under 51 sec for her split in 4 x 400m
I would love to see Tracey against Ajee Wilson in the open 800. Both could go under 2 mins.
Peace
Edit: "she is going to run . . ."
Whoa! Thanks for the heads up on the double. That has to be one of the most impressive doubles ever for a girl that age.
(Awesome how they say "sir" in interviews)
I thought you were referring to Penn Marathon!
Who cares about girls races.
Ajee Wilson will look great in an Oregon uniform next year. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

She'll wear a Neptune uniform next year.
Sorry sir but next year she will be a senior in high school.
Ajee Wilson got the baton in 17th position and almost 10 seconds behind the leader and ran everyone down on her 2:03.4 leg. The truly amazing thing is that she was so excited that she didn't wait at the line for her sister to hand off to her. She actually cut 10-12 meters off her sister leg by coming for the stick too early, so her actually spilt if she stayed at the line would have been slightly faster than 2:03.4.
