Usain, Haile, Ed.
Truly amazing. One for the ages.
I just hope I'm ALIVE after 80!
WHAT? NO WAY!
Unbelievable.
what's the big deal? when i'm 80, i'll kick ed's butt. of course, he'll be almost 120. and maybe even then i won't be able to take him.
great run. ed puts the master in masters running...
I know you hear this a lot but I have to say it again...you ARE an inspiration. This is super news.
You are the greatest, Ed

It absolutely, unequivocally is an amazing performance. My only concern is what is someone who finishes 1240th doing 3 seconds off the start line? That can't be safe and surely seems unnecessary considering the race had a start mat.
Again - not taking a thing away from his performance - just thinking from the perspective of a race organizer.
Great race.
Amazing feat.
Ed:
Great effort!
Question: Were you running 2 or 3 hours/day leading up to this marathon?
Mr. W!
Fantastic. I read your brief chat the other day and was totally inspired. I've had an ongoing bout with achilles tendonitis for a year and a half and thought that at aged 46 my competitive days might be done, but hearing about you missing a full year and a half at aged 76 and still coming back makes me think I'm 1) a bit of a suck and 2) inspired all to hell that I can too.
Keep it up and good luck with your recovery.
Simply put...Congratulations! Wow.

This is a great accomplishment.
+1
That's almost word for word what I was thinking as I started reading this thread. Simply amazing!
Way to go Ed! Keep on goin'!! Steve Hoag, Minneapolis
What kind of mileage does Ed run? What type of training does he do?
Congratulations on another in a series of remarkable runs!
I have seen Ed race a mile on four or five separate occasions and I have talked with him afterwards each time. He has the physique of a runner. His technique is as good as I have seen. He is smooth! He is fun to talk with and it is a joy to see him race.
I was hoping to run faster than his 70 yo WR before he set an 80 yo WR. Oh Well,
Congrats Ed. Continue to raise the bar.

Ed is awesome.
You will not be running that fast at that age. Ed is freak of nature. A lot of 80 year-olds can barely walk around the block, let alone run 26+ miles at 7:50 pace.
I hope I am alive at 80, let alone run a marathon. Incredible achievement Ed.
sponsors should be on to Ed
huge inspiration even if he isn't trying to be or want to be.......shit that even makes him more inspirational.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
