I often stay at a hotel near DIA. There are a bunch of them, with shuttle buses running between the hotels and the airport throughout the day. Very convenient. I'll try to remember to look for nearby gas stations when I go to DIA tomorrow. I know that I've stopped at one or two that were pretty close to the airport.

Honestly, this stuff is goofy. And although I like much of what Jesse Ventura has to say about various things (such as religion), he really goes off the deep end when he starts talking about conspiracies.

He talks about conspiracies because he has a show called "Conspiracy Theory". You can call it going off the deep end, but have you actually watched an entire episode?

As for the hotels, they may be within 20 miles, but they are not "pretty close" to the airport (about 10 miles away). There is one gas station within 5 miles. Aside from those points, the structure, cost, location, as well as its proximity to other military installations (including NORAD) make this airport very intriguing.

Just lost an hour of my life checking it out.

I go to Denver once every two or three months. Their are hotels and gas stations within a five minute drive of the airport. They are building massive amounts of shopping complexes right near the airport to.

Denver is growing outward towards the airport that is why they built it where they built it.

You know, I once had a layover at DIA. I was there around noonish and bought myself a sandwhich. That sandwhich had a ridiculous amount of mayo on it. I mean, no person could possibly enjoy consuming that much mayo at one time, but there it was, right there on my sandwhich. So I look at the guy next to me and say "Why'd they put so much mayo on this sandwhich?!" He just gave me this really strange look and said (I swear I'm not making this up) "It's not that much." WTF?!? I was speechless. I was like I had a layover in the Twilight Zone where copious amounts of mayo are somehow the norm.

To this day, I haven't been able to find any explanation as to why there was so much mayo on my sandwhich. But thanks to this thread, it's all starting to make sense now.

Yeah, well explain why they serve very nice micro-brews at the airport. That has black ops written all over it.

Why would a contractor remain on staff after a project is completed?

Are there any airports that don't have terminals extending from a main building and have portions that resemble a swastika?

The airport was built there in expectation of development that never manifested. Eventually it will. It people (Queen of England?) bought that land hoping it would increase in value and didn't sell for cheap that would inhibit development.

The budget overrun is a textbook example of bad project management documented in most project management textbooks.

Of course! DIA is a decoy so we won't find the real staging ground. Obviously, it's Cleveland.

There are a bunch of hotels about two miles from DIA. You can find out about them through a top-secret military communications medium called the Internet, on highly classified sites like hotels.com and expedia.com. I'm confident that there are enough gas stations in the area to accommodate the needs of travelers, airport workers, shuttle-bus drivers, and people who want to refill their tanks before returning their rental cars.

NORAD is almost 100 miles from DIA, and much closer to a number of other airports, most notably the one in Colorado Springs.

I'm not sure what relevance any of this stuff has to the end of the world, but perhaps that's just because I'm not psychotic.

I had a layover two years ago in Denver. I was telling my 12 yr. old daughter about some of the supposedly weird things surrounding DIA.

While waiting she offered me a stick of gum. She had half unwrapped it and when she handed it to me it just slumped over and was very weird looking. I asked her, "what the heck is that?" She didn't miss a beat and said, "Alien tongue."

I don't know whether it is normal to prevent construction workers talking. But the second half of the sentence? Really?!

Are you really saying that the fact the contractors were fired AFTER they finished the job is weird? Every time a construction worker finishes a job he ought to be given a pension?!
