In a few short weeks I'll be running Boston, with the goal of breaking 2:19. Last fall I ran a little bit under 2:20 on a flat, fast course.
I've got over 15 marathons under my belt, and tend to bleed time (about 10-15s/mile) during the last 10K of a marathon, but never crash hard.
Training this winter and spring has been similar to last year. I think I've got a shot, but everything needs to align just right, and I need to have my A-race!
For those who have ran Boston, and ran well there, what is a good pacing strategy that will give me the best shot at breaking 2:19? With all of the downhill in the first half and rolling hills in the second half, I don't want to get sucked out too hard, but on the other hand I figure the first half really needs to be a bit faster, to give some padding for inevitable slowdown due to terrain...
I was thinking shooting for low-1:08 for the first half, which would require me to hang a 1:10-1:11 for the last half.
Any insight and tips are welcome.
