Don't pass someone an inch from the finish in the chute at a small road race..well, any road race.

Finish all the way through the finish line. You haven't beaten your opponent until you cross the finish line.
If you happen to build a bomb ass website that the rookies flock too, dont sell out.
Rule #1: Don't act like a noob and act like the general public actually cares about running. The key is actually accepting this fact. It took me about 3 years to realize this.
if a distance run is followed by a 30 and go(30 second 200, jog 100, hard 100), dogging the bulk of the run and blasting the 30 and go is frowned upon.

No wonder our sport is the gay sport.
is there a "like" button.
ARTICLE XXXVI
In the presence of other people , a runner may exaggerate their PRs by no more then 5 seconds.
Yeah I run the 100 in 7.8
I didn't break your rule!
How about no white running shorts/tights without a covering garment?
Turn Left, Run Fast
General rule- get out of the way
Don't run in lane one with faster runners on the track.
Move to the outside or hug the rail if you are getting lapped.
If running on a bike path stay all the way to the side
Don't make cars stop for you on the road. It's much easier for you to stop or move around the car
Don't start near the front if you can't hang
Medals and trophies are never to be worn or dispayed. Some exceptions apply, though.
You're PR is a fact not an estimate.
You can always run faster.
Useth not thine public restroom at Woodland Park, Seattle, lest ye seek vigorous buggery.
you are all worthless. the rules are unspoken meaning that you should know them if you are a real runner, and should not have to discuss them. and by the way here is the number 1 rule:
If you are the best then you can do whatever the F#$% you want!
Finish all the way through the finish line. You haven't beaten your opponent until you cross the finish line.[/quote]
You don't score until you score!

uhhh what? it's much easier to stop and restart in a car than running
Same goes for snot rockets.
Respect your teammates' summer/winter mileage "trophy run" and go find your own. This rule only applies to the top 7 on the xc team otherwise all bets are off.
I used to hate it when, after finding a nice, swag filled local yokel 5k, 2 or 3 of my teammates would show up to turn an easy, glory run into a knockdown, drag 'em out, slugfest.

Ya try getting hit by a car.. It isn't fun.... Its happend to me, and I've seen it happen to people. Don't be a jackass. You may have the right of way as a pedestrian but the car will always win the battle.
If you encounter another runner while running, you should acknowledge their presense. The more isolated the encounter, the more encouraged it is that you recognize them.
If you pass a runner while you are driving, you will give them as much berth as you are able.
As a competitor, a runner needs to always demostrate respect and appreciation to race organizers and volunteers.

It's not that hard to make cars stop for you and avoid them if they don't. If I waited for every car that I would usually make stop I'd be stopping 30+ times a run.

What if your 1500m PR is 3:42, and your mile PR is slow (because, as you point out, you never got a chance to run it while fit). Are you really allowed to say your mile PR is "about 3:59"?
Serious question. I can't bring myself to do it.
