Is he that? Yes, he is, so your arbitrary specifications are just plain stupid. His 13:25 is nothing less than prodigal.
German is mediocre, not special, just a guy who had people like you telling him how unique he was and made the mistake of believing it. So, he ruined his college and probably entire running career trying to be a prodigy, when he's not even the best of his highschool graduating class, a class which isn't even a good one. Sorry, Chris Derrick, Luke P., German F., nothing special in the larger scheme of American running. Tons of better athletes than German could have run 3:55, if they were just going to skip Indoor NCAAs, and many could have run 13:25 if they only cared about themselves and having a record rather than their school, coming XC season, and their larger college and pro career. DNF/DNS/117th(or something pathetic), DNF again, etc., these are the not the NCAA results of a prodigy.
