Hey, what are all of your thoughts on teh program at Adams State? They suprised me with the amount of talent they have for such a small school. What are your opinions on their coach, training, training area, etc.? Just curious about them.

Where have you been? Adams State has been loaded for years. Since they are DII they do not have the strict age requirements of DI and also seem to have little if any academic standards. Therefore, they get older, more experienced athletes and do very well with them.
That is pretty much the National Meet in cross country.
I dont know what you are talking about, but everyone on the Adams State team would be eligible to run for D1 schools. Also, in regards to the academic part. While they are certainly not Stanford or Harvard, they are in the top 100 schools every year in terms of education for the dollar. I don't remember who puts out the list though.
Division II does have academic requirements.....no dumbass can just walk onto the team. And my division II program has all college aged students....no "more experienced" runners.

Though you are looking at the results where it says Adams State many of those guys are not running at Adams anymore they are graduated. Just a little thing you probably didn't know. So thye didn't look quite so good

Everyone on Adams national wining team this year, was normal student. Not older and experienced. They get HS athletes that were average and their coach works with thme till they are great. Look at Mo Aden, nothing too great in HS and now his doing pretty good. If you want to run in college I would definently look into it.
Adams may have "normal" aged students now, but several years ago Western and Adams both had older athletes that couldn't compete in D1 because they were over 25. They were not the only program. Mullinga at Lewis was close to 30 and ACU had several over 25. That is a fact!
I was 24 when I graduated, rees buck was 23 and Steve Willis 24.
Arent all of those colorado schools looking at some serious financial problems in the next few years? Not the cc/track teams specifically, but the schools state funding is hurting pretty bad from what I know. The ASC team is currently faster and smarter than most D2 teams can boast, but if the school starts to fall apart will the team lose its long streak of prosperity in the next few years?
Adams is a great program, but.... Aden was far from average before getting there... 1:51 at JC in CA. I'm not sure that he or Zoila would be DI eligible as they both graduated from HS some time ago. This shouldn't take away from what they're doing though. They're one of the very best programs in the country regardless of division. They looked better on paper this weekend because someone signed up almost every one of their alum under Adams State... Merino, Hubbard, Leslie, Blackhurst, and a few more... On a side note, Why is Levasiur red shirting? Sub 29 and red shirting? Great run Matt!

maybe they can run - i don't care - because the group i encountered (not the women) were crude, rude and they had obviously not been brought up to be gentlemen. i was appalled at the lack of manners from the kids i watched. and the lack of respect for others. they did not make an impression i would be proud of.
ive always thought they werent very friendly and outgoing but whats the reason for your opinion? i have met aden and he is a class act.
I raced against Mohammed Aden in High School down in San Diego. He graduated from Kearney High School in 2000. He came to Adams in the fall of 2002 after 2 years at Mesa JC in SD. Aden Redshirted all of last year. Had trouble keeping up on a 8 mile easy run when he first got to Alamosa and now the dude is top 15 in XC Nationals - 4:04 indoor mile and 13:59/3:45 outdoor double at SAC. Congratulations to Mo on becoming such a stud for Adams. He was always talented and had the speed, but he has gotten so much stronger the last couple years. He was very average in XC during High School. He would be eligible in DI.
I have met three of their best distance guys and I can tell you they are humble, respectful, and very focused and intelligent, not to mention talented as stellar athletes.
