He finally won me over as a fan. Not anymore.

OK so where does rank as far as all-time best performance. i mean ryun, pre lindgren, virgin, german , chapa ,webb, ritz et al... where does this put Lukas.
None of those guys could have dominated the Kenyan 8k Jr. XC National champ from 5k grass to 2 mile indoors.
Seeing as how Ritz got third at worlds, and was ahead of all but one Kenyan, I must disagree.

Which is unfortunate, because whenever he has a mediocre performance a million threads titled "LUKAS V. IS DONE" will pop up.
Thank you. This is the truth....... He's white so it's OK.
Same crap with Lagat..............

Any video of the race?
Here are all three of his races this weekend. Too bad we won't get to see him more during the outdoor season.

You just proved my point, pretty sure that one Kenyan was the JR. national champ before he was World Jr. Champ.
Lukas might win the team title portion of the meet as well, seeing as he scored 30 points by himself.

This is the same argument we hear about Lagat.
The fact is that he is black and only a white man
can have the American record

the only point being proved is that you don't know anything about the 2001 world junior cross race...
hint: winner was not a kenyan.

What's all this racist stuff about? In the end we are all one. Ain't no getting around it.

I haven't watched the race, but I think the Kenyans destroyed themselves trying to match Bekele's pace in the 2001 World Junior XC (Bekele winning by 33 seconds). Ritz probably was more conservative and blasted past the tiring boys. That is exactly what he did during the race that got him the 12:56 5000, same results: Bekele first, Ritz third, a Kenyan in between.
I heard the guy in 4th place Kikanae Punyua, literally just began running a year ago. He's Kenyan
wow what a race. you gotta think whatever records LV sets, cheserek will break them? I mean Cheserek's got 2 more years to take approx 2.5 secs off his 2 mile for the record. Plus this outdoor season and the next two to break 8:34, (or whatever LV runs this spring). Or did they really say that today's races were LV's last ever? As in running tri's this spring?

Lukas Verzbicas 8:40.7! Lindgren was 8:40.0. So close! Cheserek stuck with LV until the final sprint...pretty amazing! 8:42.something.
In order to truly get the record the runner must run on a 160 wooden track just like Lindgren.
Oh wait, no one can even get the record with better tracks, better spikes, and better training.
Lindgren's record should never be broken. It should remain as a credit to how amazing he was.
A 17 year old Kenyan ran 12:53.
Isn't Verzbicas 18?
Why are we celebrating this mediocre performance.
In what way is it mediocre? Isiah Koech is exceptionally, an extreme outlier. He will be one of the all time greats, you can't compare others performances to his.

Well, the 17-year-old is the best in the world and has probably been high-mileage training for about 20 years now (yes, 20) and won't be expected to improve as much at college age (or he'll simply move up to the marathon without competing in the 5k/10k)...

Ritz was in 2nd, outkicked at the finish.
Can athletes who are not U.S. citizens set High School records here? Was Sanya a citizen when she set the 400 record?
