Do you prefer road races or track races to compete in? I have always liked track, but I think I am starting to like road races better. It seems to be a little more enjoyable.
What are your opinions?

I suggest sticking to track and moving up to road racing and marathons later in your career after you have run your PR's from 10k and down. Move up when your in your late 20's or early 30's . Besides its better to run a time on the track and finish say 10th out of 12 guys in elite heat then go out and run a local road race and win against no competition. Stick to the basics. Track and X-C and move up later in your career. Road Racing is not going to net you your potential. Again it depends on what your goals are for running. However in my opinion the roads have hurt american post collegiate running when it comes to going to the next level.
I agree road racing is not going anywhere. Run them only once in while for fun. Track is were it's at when it comes to times. Every road race course is different, but you can't argue a time run on the track.
Track man anyday. Road Racing is for rec runners.
you are a runner, so run races whatever the kind. any type of race can be integrated into a good training program. Snell used to run a few road races a year, and cross, and of course track. Emilie Mondor races a few road races a year and is very accomplished in all three diciplines. If you find road races are fun (and i'm with you there) then do them, nothing extends the career like having more fun while you're doing it!
Do we race for times or for fun. If for fun go road race man. Run against all the recreational runners and be one of them. If your hard core like the rest of us. Track is where to be.
Track is my choice hands down. I ll race you in the 100m.
Yeah there are a lot of great elite races on the track isn't there.
Road races is not rec running you dumb a$$es.
A lot of marathons are run on the track, huh.
Yeah dude road racing is the thing. Go to a road race and 99% of the field are rec - runners. I saw you winning a 5k recently in 18 minutes. You thought you were flying. Besides what do you know about running. Dork.
So London and Boston are rec events?
Go Blow you Road Ho
I have seen some pretty worthless track meets.

Well if it is about which you like better how did bashing road racers get involved.
