Kenyan juniors could crush all of these. Maybe not the shot records, but all the others. Wake me up when American high school records are set by 30 year olds. yawn.

True, 800m up.

I'm not an American but that 400m record looks pretty sharp, one thing though you Americans need to use the metric system.
Was Carter on steroids? If yes what does that say for his daughter winning gold in Rio. Because I was going to say that down here Val Adam's high school shot put record looks pretty invincible.
Remember that Carter was a silver medalist in the shot at the 84 Olympics and a many time Pro-Bowl player for the 49'ers.
He was from a poor family from the south side of Dallas. There was no money for drugs in that family let alone that it was the late 70's and while yes, the East Germans could afford them as a country a poor family in the US couldn't.
Some athletes (see Bolt, Usain) are just freaks. Michael Carter was one such athlete.
Bump, since there's been a bunch of sprint updates to the HSR books. Sub-11 on the girls' side is nuts.
Felix's 200m is still damn impressive though!

Agreed. How much did she improve as a senior? Not a huge amount, to my knowledge.
What's more impressive? 22.11 or 10.99?
Not records per se, but I've always felt that if someone really wanted to equal Ryun's mile record, or Lindgren's 2 mile mark, they need to attempt it on cinders or an indoor 150. Those guys did what they did with a significant handicap.
Definitely 22.11. This time probably allows you to medal at most of the world championship finals.
Not only will Hill not medal at the time of 10.98, the time is taken at maximum legit speed.
If Ryan Crouser had switched to the spin in his junior year, and didn't get hurt during his senior year, I think he might've taken down Michael Carter's shotput record.
But, that being said, it's still the most untouchable high school record.

Carter was more than 4 feet farther than Crouser. That is like saying a long jumper who long jumped 26 feet 0 inches could have broken the record at 27 feet 4 inches if he had changed his technique.
HS SHOT (12lb/5.44kg)
81-3½ Mike Carter (Jefferson, Dallas, Texas) 1979
77-2¾i Ryan Crouser (Barlow, Gresham, Oregon) 2011
77-0 ————Carter 1979
76-9½ ————Carter 1979
76-4 ————Carter ! 1979
76-2 Brent Noon (Fallbrook, California) 1990
75-11¾ ————Carter ! 1979
75-11½i ————Crouser ! 2011
75-10¼ Nick Vena (Morristown, New Jersey) 2011
75-10 ————Carter ! 1979
Crouser threw shot four times after converting to the spin.
Progression was 70', 74', 77'. That's a pretty impressive upward curve.

no 8:34 from german or 8:40 from lindgren? really?
Um... Who gives a crap, its like all you forgot Lucas 8:29 2-mile which IS 8:26 3200! He would have been 60+ meters ahead of those two.
Reminds me of a song...
Now days everybody wanna talk like they got something to say, but mother $#@!ers forgot about Lukas
....way harder than 9:48!

Do top high school athletes get drug tested?

Ndamukong Suh could have broke it ,if Ryan's dad had coached him. he threw 61 feet standing, but he makes too much money in the NFL.
I also agree hat Ryan could have broken it as well.

9. Boys 200 (20.13, Roy Martin, Roosevelt, Texas, 1985)
Only one runner from the 21st century, J-Mee Samuels of North Carolina, who clocked a 20.32 at altitude in 2005, can crack the Top 10 marks. Martin was no one-time wonder, posting backup times of another 20.13, 20.28 and 20.30. He wasn't the only one that year, either, as Joe DeLoach of Texas ran 20.24. Here is the rub — for records like this, competition is vital, but it'll happen some day.
fyi
Noah Lyles ran 20.09 (+1.6m/s) at the OT on 7/6/16 (unratified as of 11/14/16).
Mary Shea ran a 10 flat 2 mile at the nc state meet in 1980. She lapped all runners. She also set a course at the Maggie Valley road race the summer before her senior year. Her time for a full 5 miles was 2612. She was 17. Olympians have tried and failed to break this record.
Bob Mathias won the 1948 Olympic Decathlon. Only 17 at the time. Although he had technicaly gradated his high school at the time, he did have a year of prep school before attending college.
Wasn't Lindgren's record set on a 11 lap banked board track?
Wasn't that set on a cinder track at that. They say there is a one second difference between cinder and tartan tracks.
