A framed picture of my dad winning his high school 100 yard dash championship...on a greyhound racing track no less. I also have his silver cup from that 1956 race and a similar cup from 1929 when my grandfather won it before him.

I had those too but they were stolen from my car in city park during the 1992 Olympic trials.
I have met Barrios and his wife and daughter a few times and they always seem pleasant enough. What am I missing?
alright...I prefaced my original post indicating that I may be a running/track geek and once I started reviewing some of the cool collectibles that my letsrun.com colleagues have amassed, it reminded me of some of my many other 'worthles" holdings such as Distance Running News (which became Runner's World) from when bob Anderson's mom was editor etc...this one was sent to Joe henderson, then at track and field news...I have the finish line tape from the first ben franklin mile held at Penn Rlays (the epic duel in about 1973/4 when tony Waldrop in 3:53 barely held off denis fikes...I held the tap that day)...one of the Jim Ryun books given to me by JR, i believe that it is called in quest of gold...Lorraine moller's olympic singlet from 1988 Seoul olympic marathon (from LM)...Barrios oly pin representing mexico in '88, same with Rosa mot of portugal, a very cool photo of Emil Zatopek running all hunched over with his tongue hanging out...autographed by Emil...he looked at me as if I were crazy when i asked him to sign and wondered aloud if i might have been able to find a better photo...a mizuno special make-up sprint spike designed for and signed by "Kahl Loois'...and my short term memory is elapsing at the moment...

We had three vans for the elite runners at the Crescent City Classic. Barrios was not in yet but his wife was in one and when the other elite runners tried to get in she started screaming at them that this was for Barrios only. She would not let anyone else in. For the guys that wanted to warm up to the start and put their bags in the van to get at the finish some six miles away she wouldn't even allow that. We told her the vans were for all the runners and she got pissy saying something to the tune of this would be the last time for them to come to N.O.

Mike, your recollection is failing you. Waldrop blew the doors off Fikes that day.
What ever happened to my NCAA 300 meter steeplechase award? Classic. Has that kid ever surfaced again at a Hootie?

I'm thinking that they were within about 1-2 seconds of each other and that Elton's race was a fair sized PR...re:the first perpetual (now missing) Hootie award, I was just thinking about it the other day and was figuring we'd hunt this guy down...believe his name was something like Casey Carrol...does that ring a bell??
