Religion: a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe
I love these discussions. They pretend to be science, but really we are discussing religion. Since none of us can definitively prove how matter first came into being and how it eventually came to appear like it does today, we rely on belief systems. These belief systems require us to select the "facts" that support our view.
The thing that I find so interesting is that those who reject creationism because it is not scientific are blind to the fact that they are some of the most religious folk in the discussion. I find it amusing that someone would reject the information on a site because they read the about section and realize that the author must have a religious bias. How is this not an example of their own religious bias? If a religious person is someone who clings tightly to their belief systems then these people can only be thought of as religious zealots.
The theory of evolution requires as much faith as creationism (some would argue much more). To believe that given sufficient time and chance that mutations would be provide sufficient new information and that similar mutations would eventually become global is really quite a leap of faith. But why is that wrong? Faith is not a bad thing. What is a bad thing is when some unproven facts are rejected as only faith while others are deemed to be irrefutable science.
