someone else,
I simply had to read the "About Us" section of the answersingenesis website to determine that the website is in no way truly scientific. The conclusion has already been made based on personal hunches and feelings, and then the "scientists" in question here have dedicated their lives to skewing data in favor of their predetermined conclusion. Which is why I cannot trust their findings. I mean, with enough effort anyone can provide convincing evidence for a theory if the right people are listening. In this case - people who want to believe in creationism.
I don't think creationists are stupid. There are lots of intelligent people out there who believe in God. But even really smart people can have some fundamentally flawed theories about the world around them. And just because someone is smart in one area, doesn't mean they are smart in others. Some people are really really good at math, but suck at communication. Another person might be a chemistry whiz, but cannot even begin to understand how to write a piece of music. A psychologists might be an expert in reading non-verbal cues and understanding human sexuality, but can't pick up a girl at a bar to save his life. Some people are really good at physics, but mistakenly use that knowledge to prove some strange unfounded theory that an all powerful being created the first Homo sapien in a day and pulled a rib out of him to create a female Homo sapien.
I'm not saying the theory of creation is false. I can't really know that. I'm saying I don't trust creationists' "scientific" methods and can't trust their conclusions. Of course, all people are subject to bias, and a little skepticism of any scientific findings is healthy. It's just that my skepticism of creationists is a little more robust.
