I just ran with Alan this afternoon and he confirmed that it is indeed him.

Truth to tell, the Real Alan Webb is out there somewhere, posting on this thread or not. It's a fun thread, no matter.
Maybe he's lurking and having a great laugh.
Wherever he is and whether or not he's reading or posting on this thread, I wish him success in his running! No doubt it will make a huge difference in his life if he knows that the Real Someone-or-Other wishes him well. ;)
Still, it's better to be wished well than otherwise. Good luck, Alan Webb, wherever you are... or are not.
Taking my time...that seems to be the theme with the Salazar group. Taking time to race, racing very infrequently, not competing but maybe 2 to 4 times a year. Yeah, that teaches you how to race.
My advice, after your African counterparts who race frequently kick your arsss in the Olympic year and it is another dismal approach then perhaps you young bucks camping out in Beaverton will start racing year round and meeting the Africans eye to eye on the field of battle.
I for one think Salazar is a Czar and unreliable. Controlling most of the top US runners and having guys like Rupp run a half marathon and Ritz doing God knows what. It is nice to see you running again Alan.
It's nice to see you are getting to top notch shape again Alan. It truly is a pleasure seeing you take things more seriously. Just know this, we are watching, and your coach...his clock is ticking.
For the record, I am now a non-believer. But it was extremely convincing for about 6-7 pages.
I'm puzzled at Letsrun on this one: why let this go on?
This was the post that caused me doubts.

Questions all day! My gosh. What the hell is wrong with you people. Oh wait, I just forgot why I don't like to come on these boards at all. Harassment all day. If you must know, I was doing none of those things at the Reston 10-miler. I was too busy being the champion that I am, winning the race and crushing the field by over 8 minutes, if I remember correctly.
Ass.
Skuj,
Don't give up just yet. I agree the post you quoted wasn't him, but there was already a clear imposter before that and "Alan" called him out on it.
I still believe the real Alan was peppered in some of this thread.
And I should listen to "Darren Pooja" on this? :)

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with Darren Pooja. There were just too many posts that sounded just like him.
Now that the gig is up, how do we all feel?

O..O
XXXX
Slightly stupid, but very very impressed with the first 6-7 pages. You lost it on my quote above.
Correction: I gave it away on that quote. I'm not interested in maintaining this forever! So, I finally said something ridiculous. He gave me four options, and I didn't even pick one! Do you think I was still trying to be convincing?
LOLZ.
I had fun.
Told you so.
This thread has my early vote for "Thread of the Year" on LR.
Well done.
Couldn't get by the security checks. But you were good....really good.

You mean really bad?? That hungry lion crap was....well, crap.
I'm coming on LRC when I start up my Ponzi scheme.
No, it wasn't the real Alan Webb. But the real Alan Webb has posted on this thread under a different name, but he won't tell me which one. Maybe it's you?????
Alan has definitely posted on Letsrun before. I don't know about recently, but 5 or 6 years ago there were some posts that had to be his his.
Given the "world-famous" reputation of these boards and their tendency to get quoted in newspapers, I'd love to see one of these gems attributed to Webb in the press. I can just imagine the Eugene Register Guard article about Webb leading up to Pre quoting him referring to himself as a lion.
