The arranged-marriage divorce rate in India is something like 5%.
It is Westerners who are brainwashed by a cult-like belief that people are somehow capable of picking their own spouses. This practice arose only about 2-300 years ago, has no basis in fact whatsoever, and has led to immeasurable human suffering. It is disgusting. My heart cries out for all the poor people who-- without the guidance of their parents-- chose their own spouse and went through years of post-nuptial shutoff!!!
Look-- different religious and cultural practices have different impacts. Many Mormon practices are relatively healthy for church members-- less alcohol, caffeine, and pre-marital sex pretty good ideas for the vast majority of people.
There are a lot of ways to condemn the Mormon church-- but propagating messages that are in the best interest of its members is not not one of them.
