Is anyone who frequents this board a physical therapist or orthopedic surgeon?
I am graduationg college next year. I have had my mind set on being an orthopedic surgeon for a long time. My grades and MCAT score, etc are good enough to get into med school, but i'm getting pretty scared about all the hours i've heard residents work (100/wk+), and even once you're a full fledged surgon (70/wk). I want to continue running (I'm currently a 1:48/3:49 guy), but i don't think med school will allow me to do that. I've been considering PT school instead, better hours, still work with a lot of athletes, however I would earn far less money.
I guess what i'm asking is do any PTs or orthoedic surgeons (or anyone who knows one) have personal advice from their own experiences?
(i.e is physical therapy a challenging career or just the same old shit everyday, does challenge and salary of being a surgeon justify the non-running lifestyle, iss running even possible as a surgeon/med student)
Any genuine advice would be appreciated.
