If I'm Hall, Abdi, Meb, etc. I'm really concerned about Rupp. There's no telling what he can do, especially off of that 13:11.

I think Tim Nelson debuted in 62 and Ritz in 61. Rupp will run at least in the 61's.
Rupp should run well with the 5k fitness he has shown. I am going to bet Meb is the one everyone should be concerned about given his speed and strength and experience competing.
the others should be concerned if rupp is anywhere near them with a mile to go. if he is, he will out kick them. pure speed he has to get the thumbs up. excited for this race, will it be televised? or at the least streamed online, sure hope so.
I gotta think that Rupp's best event long term is the marathon and I'm wondering if Salazar has been pushing Rupp towards running one sooner, instead of waiting until the OTs or even after 2012. Perhaps Salazar used the cancellation of the 10k to talk Rupp into something that Salazar wanted all along: To see how Rupp performs at a longer distance.
anyone know if they will allow cyclists to follow the leaders down the west side?
Besides the fact that Rupp will have no idea how to run Central Park, he's run ONE road race. I wish him luck but I wouldn't bet a cent on him.

I wouldn't think so. The course is closed. There are NYPD at every intersection.

Oh my gosh, little itty bitty Gwenneth Paltrow rolling hills? Oh the poor dears.
Even Galen Rupp will sneer at this course for being Rupp-certified.
Malmo, you've obviously not raced on this course. Period.

If I'm Hall or Meb, I don't give a sh!t. I've been preparing for months for a hilly marathon and not just the track season. I will drop nothing slower than 3:05 kms from the start and Rupp will fall off the back. I will watch his mighty kick while I sip Gatordade in the finishers' area.

3:05/km is only 1:05 pace. You really think Rupp will drop off that? Or do you think Hall and Meb will be interspersing 2:45s with those 3:05s?

Fantastic field for Rupp to run with, should be exciting. My bet is that no more than one of those guys finishes ahead of him and that's only if they are having a great day.

I think that's absolute crap. People said the same thing about Rupp until he started being ABLE to be competitive. Hall is certainly a racer. Heck he put himself up in a race with Geb and co. in London and took the lead 21 miles in making even Geb go...who the hell is this guy.
Hall has struggled a lot in the past few years which have made him less competitive in races, but not less competitive as a person, that doesn't mean he's not a racer. When he's at his best, he puts himself up there with anyone. When he's in the shape of a 2:09 thon guy, he's not going to try and push the envelope against 2:05 guys.
Hall never raced Geb in London.

Yes, he did. Look up the 2007 London Marathon.
You're right - I was mistaken. I did not recall Haile being there.
