I'm a middle distance runner, one I of my long distance buddies is convinced that its impossible for me to run a 15:10. If I do so, he will have to eat his running shoes. I need to do it this outdoor season, though. Recently ran a 2:35 1k; ran a 4:07 1500 2 years ago and am in much better shape now. Right now I've been running 40 or less mpw, but I ran much more during base training (up to 70). My cross country times are pretty shitty (27:00 8k) and I never really raced distances longer than the mile since high school.
I will probably have one mid-April meet to go for it. I know its pretty long odds I do it, but what's the best approach? After indoor should I just up my mileage to 70 again? Just start cranking out out 3:00 1k's once a week until race time? I will have 4-6 weeks from the end of indoor until the race.
