why is it that some people have feet that "flare out" when they run? For example, one of my athletes right foot flares out (his foot is rotating counter clockwise to a degree), and he can't figure out why. Is this a muscle strength problem? Is there any way to strengthen his foot/ankle/leg muscles so this doesn't happen? I guess the best way I can explain it is that he has more of a horizontal angle with his foot than a vertical angle like he should. Thanks for any help, I'd really like to help him out.
