If you are qualified you will get a job. Being tall has nothing to do with it.

Makes sure your suits fit.

Some smaller and younger where suits off the rack that are to big or not tailored. This gives you that little kid look.

Also if you are wearing a sports watch take that off.

Iron everything. Make sure your socks are appropriate and your shoes are shined.

I've interviewed hundreds of kids your age for positions over the years...listen and listen well.

Don't dress like the typical f***ing 20 year old American know-it-all. Your generation is as dumb as I've seen in quite some time. Dress in a business suit- conservative color, white cotton shirt - professionally pressed with collar stays - not some button down wrinkled piece of shit you bought at American Eagle. Wear a nice conservative tie with a traditional half windsor knot - not some oversized stupid f***ing soup catcher you picked up at Abercrombie & Fitch. Shoes - decent leather with a shine, not those stupid f***ing Doc Martin's or whatever you call them. Hair - don't go in there looking like one of those goddamned hipster goofballs with the shaggy, messy cut or the f***ing goop spread on it. Cut the long stupid sideburns while you're at it. Leave your stupid f***ing smartphone in the car - if it buzzes, beeps, or rings during the interview, you're f***ed. Your interviewer couldn't give a flying f*** how tall you are - he/she wants to find somebody who has the brains, dedication, and drive to make a positive contribution.

Do you have a moustache? If not, paint one on.A question you should ask yourself though is if you are applying for the right sort of jobs.It doesn't matter how tall short or young looking you are. No old guy - me - wants to invest their life savings with a kid - you. I suspect the Warren Buffett was smart as a whip at 20. But he wouldn't have won the interview either. It's not fair, it just is.If you want to get into finance that's fine, you're probaly highly qualified and personable. But a Financial Adviser is a different thing.Perhaps you should make something of your own money before you start playing with someone elses. If I were you I'd rethink your strategy.

Unfortunately, there IS a bias towards height, but you can't do anything about so don't worry. Maybe the interviewer will be a little fella too and take pity on you.

You must recruit pretty crappy talent if the advice above reflects your experience as an interviewer.

By the way this job is for an insurance company. So not quite the normal financial job.

I hate to break it to you, but looking like a kid DOES count against you. People may say it matters more what you can do, but you'll never get the opportunity to show it because of the subconscious stigma that some people are simply not smart enough to overcome.

However, if you do, as you claim, possess the requisite skills, I'd expect you to be managing your own portfolio for long enough at this point to use it to demonstrate what you're capable of.

If you are young, you cannot look older. Impossible. Sorry.

And most older folks know that you have a lot to learn whether you like it or not.

Get an advanced degree, which will take some time, and then you will be older and can interview again with more success. Make sure the degree is in a field with jobs.

Lemme ask you a question. Let's say a four year old kid comes up to you, bragging about how he can solve any puzzle. Do you hand him your take-home college calculus exam and let him give it a whirl?

There are just things that older folks know that you don't and can't know. Like how to invest their money, for how much, when, where, factors in their life that might change things, etc. You can't accept that is true anymore than the 4 year old would understand why he can't solve all of your puzzles.

unless this 4 year old, very much unlike the employer, has learned how to solve a rubik's cube and you conveniently have an opening for a rubik's-cube-solver. such is the case with a lot of entry level jobs.

I'm more concerned about you buying lottery tickets. Don't say that in the interview.
