Go join them... might help
6 athletes, 1 of those retired(?) for all practical purposes, and 1 hanger-on that can't come to terms on the contract.
Good. It was stupid pretending it was 1 team up in Portland. Glad they went back to the Oregon Project.
My take on it wrote:

I thought Schumacher was in Portland too?

...or is he coaching with Salazar?
Good, now Salazar can stop stealing credit from people doing well in Jerry's group and maybe go have a PBR at the local pub.
? Of course he isn't coaching with Salazar. Isn't that the distinction here? Salazar had his group and Schumacher had another group (Teg, Solinsky et al) but they were all competing in the same OTC uniforms. Now they compete as separate entities. As far as I can tell no coaching changes have taken place.
Yeah, but Schumacher's group is in Portland too, so it's not like it's a location thing. Why does he want to separate?
This whole thing is odd. It was Salazar and his influence at Nike HQ that got Jerry recruited out to Portland to start his group. It was implied in a number of things I read early on that it was done as a way to bring Jerry up to take over the reins from Salazar. Now Salazar is separating? Will his group still be at Nike HQ all the time?
"His runners are once again wearing the all-black Oregon Project jerseys."
Hurrah, Rupp does best when wearing black, NCAA XC Champ, the legendary Triple at Indoors, and his 13:11 AR now.
Bottom of article says Rupp is still in Australia - no USATF Indoors then?
The article says AlSal, Rupp and Webb are in australia....so I quees Rupp will not be running the 3k at USATF...

A later article also on oregonlive.com says Rupp is believed to be on his way back to the states today.
Has Jerry and Alberto's relationship soured?
Was there ever one to begin with?
Both enjoy complete control and I believe it is what makes them so good with their athletes, but they seem almost polar opposites in many regards.

That sucks. I would love to see Rupp get in that 5000 with Solinsky, Teg, Mottram, etc. That would be a helluva season capper since the 10k is gone.
What regards are those? I don't really know much about either of them.

It seems like Steve Magness has taken over as heir apparent.

It just occurred to me that those quotes are all related.
Al Sal loves his gadgets and messing with people's stride. Jerry's training has always seemed very old school - the secret is there is no secret kind of thing. In this way, Al Sal and Jerry don't really match up. Magness on the other hand matches up well with Al Sal.
Right, Magness is all about the scientific approach to training, and Jerry has been more outspoken than ever about "we don't do silly crap like cryosaunas or changing a guy's stride pattern" so this actually makes sense. It doesn't necessarily mean bad blood between Alberto and Jerry but maybe they're just not quite as aligned as before.
