Hi Letsrun. As much as it pains me to do it I am going to finance a car for the first time in my life. I have always bought cars cash but I don't see that as being the best solution for me anymore. My partner and I share a car and I want her to be in something safe and reliable. We have spent the last several months paying for repairs for our current vehicle and it just doesn't seem worth it any more.
I realize that a new car is probably the most financially irresponsible purchase one can make, but I figure I'm already paying the mechanic a car payment - I may as well have a nice car. I don't have the cash to purchase a new car outright but I do have an income that will allow me to make payments.
My biggest concern moving forward is being taken advantage of by the dealer. This is new territory for me and I want to be prepared. Does anyone have any tips or know of a good resource to investigate before I talk with a dealer?
Thanks!
