No NYC Qualifying Challenge this year for open athletes. Too bad, it was a nice meet. What happened?

Can anyone tell me how Carl Icahn came to have his name on this facility? Yeah, I know he's wealthy, but does he have a connection to the sport?

He donated a substantial portion of the money to build the stadium.
Ask a silly question, get a silly answer.
Let me try this again. Does anyone know if Carl Icahn has a connection to the sport of track and field, because he donated a substantial amount of money to help build a stadium and that stadium has his name on it.
Why a track? Why not a zoo or a library? And please dont' say, "because they weren't building a zoo or library on that site" because that's not in any way helpful.
We need more tracks in Pistol wavin new haven, ct
+1
Just did a little reading about Carl Icahn. Looks to me like he is naming a bunch of things in the New York area as an expression of philanthropy/advertising/public relations. The stadium was just an opportunity that became available to him. I can't find any personal link to Track and Field.
