Got herself a qualifier. Nice job!!! 2:40 is a nice time.
Poor second place guy. Look at the splits - they ran together, he tried to drop her, and got beat by 3 minutes.
Congrats on the qualifier and the overall win!!

Damn, I need to go run that race next year. Was there any prize money?
Castles is 39. Second place guy is 27. Wonder why she ran Myrtle Beach. She could have been on the podium at a race with half decent prize money elsewhere.

Keep in mind you may show up and the race may be canceled due to a quarter inch of slush and sub-40 temperatures as was the case in 2010.
Roy,
I'd take a qualifier and PR over podium and prize money any day. I'm sure her reason will be made known if she is asked.
I bet the second place guy is wondering the same thing....
Too bad the newspaper/TV people couldn't listen to her - "pre-qualified for the olympics"? Where did they get that from her stating I wanted to qualfiy for the Olympic Trials?
Also there are sure going to be a lot of upset marathoners when they find out that the trials are now in October - at least they go the state right......
I am pretty sure she knows when they are so that is just sloppy reporting.
Wow, that is one of the flattest and easiest looking marathon courses I've seen. Good pick.

Yes it's flat but not necessarily fast. It's BORING and the wind can be rough. A good portion of the course is a block off the ocean.
Look at the guy in 4th and the women in 5th - looks like he was pacing her (or maybe they just ran together) and she just missed the B standard by a minute. They were together for most of the race, it seems.
It's hard to miss by a minute.
A girl (32 yrs. old) won the Hog Wild 15k in Dothan, Alabama a year ago. She ran a 58:54. In second place was a 51 yr. old guy, in 59:41.
