Yeah, a guy who jumps high enough to bang his head on the backboard is no way the best.
What is exciting about watching gangster felons throw down the rock?
IDK, i mean it was in LA and griffin is the only contestant that anyone even knows, of course he was gunna win if he did anything exciting. The car dunk sucked. That DeRozan dunk was the best. I thought I was watching WWE with all the talking, props and bullshit going on...
I miss dunk contest of 2000.
I know many white boys who can do this. Nice try.

Oh, really? I didn't know it was broken.
10 feet? Really, they need to put the rim up higher or something. Watching b-ball is so dull nowadays, especially the pros.
I read recently that Blake Griffin plays at 90%+ level. What was depressing was that the estimate was that most NBA players operate at 60% level.
javale mcgee had the two most difficult dunks of the night. i don't think any of the other three contestants could have done the 3-ball dunk or the two rim dunk.
i also think that griffin's final dunk and mcgee's final dunk were the 2 least difficult dunks of the night.
all that said, the contest was clearly fixed so that griffin would win, and i was impressed with all four contestants. ibaka's foul line dunk was as impressive as dr j's or jordan's (his was a legit behind the foul line takeoff, theirs had more power). derozan had some nice dunks too.
hummmmm, the winner was determined by call in votes. If your boy didn't win it's because you didn't make enough phone votes. Next year, try harder, okay.

Yeah and thats what makes it a farce - just like when the NBA opened up All Star voting to the public and now we have the retarded scenario where each year for the next ten Yao Ming will be voted a starting center - even if he doesn't play a single minute.
But the dunk contest format is ridiculous - so they get in "legends of dunking" to vote the prelims then offer it up to the public to decide the champ? Go figure. OF COURSE Griffin was going to win - by virtue of his in-game body of work so far this year more than anything.
Griffin shouldn't have even been in the freaking final to begin with - it was borderline comical when his two dunk total "just happened" to be 1 point more than Derozans - especially given both Derozans dunks were better in anyones book.
I know its just "a bit of fun" but it just for McGee it sucks. He had arguably the three best dunks of the night, two of which were insanely difficult and you could just see he knew there was no point even trying on his last finals dunk.
If you are going to call it the Dunk CONTEST, make it a contest with unbiased judging that doesn't go near the fan at home, or just call it the Dunk Exhibition if your winner is predetermined - like it was tonight
The fans get to vote in the winner, and everyone wanted Blake Griffin to win, so if that's considered fixed (which I can see how one would think that) then yes, it was slightly fixed. However, people saying that Blake Griffin didn't deserve to win, are you serious? The man who almost hit his head on the rim...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOd4UVcx908&NR=1&feature=fvwp
I won't be biased and say the some other dunks weren't spectacular or very hard, but it's about presentation and what the crowd wants. He brought out a choir. At the end of the night, it's about what the crowd and fans want, and the crowd and fans wanted Blake Superior.
Also, James Jones representing the 305. The FOURTH Miami Heat player to win it.
I think it was good to see the white kid win. OK, he's mostly white. Diversification is good right.

Hashbrown.
I thought the contest was entertaining. A lot of new ideas this year. They kind of ran out of ideas by the finals though so that gave Griffin the advantage with the off the backboard elbow hang dunk. We couldn't believe what Vince Carter did and when they compared the two, Griffins was clearly superior. He also made that dunk on the first try.
If the contest needs "fixed", they should add in a deduction for every dunk missed say 2.5 points. That would mean if you succeed on the third try, a 45 is the highest score. Dunking 3 balls on the 5th try isn't as exciting while watching live.

i'm a little torn about this. i agree that the repeated missed dunks took something away from the contest this year. on the other hand though, the degree of difficulty can be higher with the allowance for missed dunks.
as for the judging, well they're never actually going to fix it, but if they were open to doing so, they would need to at least introduce tenths of points (i.e., 9.4 or 9.7 or what have you).
i also wouldn't be opposed to scrapping the pretense of judges and instead going to an all fan voting system. maybe let all 4 guys dunk 4 times, or maybe eliminate 1 guy per round.
Oh and another thing - the "how does a guy who nearly hot his head on the rim NOT deserve to win" argument is such complete BS because the guy who came closest to KO'ing himself on the rim was Serge Ibaka (who got totally shafted, btw - Julius Irving always has been and always will be a dick) and McGee was the closest to seriously dropping himself on the backboard when he nailed the reverse rock-the-cradle dunk.
If its about presentation call it the SLAM DUNK EXHIBITION, not CONTEST. When you leave it up to the fans then thats all it is. What, so IF (obviously) the Cavs played the Heat in the playoffs should we leave it up to the fans to decide? Because I sure as hell know who would be winning that fan vote. We don't do this because the playoffs are a contest and thats also what the slam dunk should be. Not a freaking stitch-up like this was
It's a good thing Bieber wasn't in the slam dunk contest.

What participant in the dunk contest was a felon?
LETSRUN HAS TO HAVE THE LARGEST COLLECTION ON PUSSY ASS, WHINNING, JEALOUS, JUDGMENTAL, BITCHBOY, NO-IT-ALL, RACIST PUNKS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH.
You hate the NFL, you hate the NBA, every black player is a thug or felon, this QB is a rapist, this runner is a drug cheat, that runner is not a "real american", you hate frats, Michael Vick should have got life in prison. Your fvcking lives must be miserable! To top it off, you think marathons are exciting. I bet the only place you weird nerds can get a piece of ass is a teaparty convention.
GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This thing was fixed but nowhere near as egregious as the year Michael Jordan won over Dominique Wilkins. The contest was in Chicago that year so Jordan had to win but Dominique put on a clinic and was clearly the better dunker. Most of you kool-aids probably weren't born yet when this happened.
