I ran a 2 mile today in 10:24. I was hoping for sub 10. Felt somewhat comfortable but surprised I died the last mile more then I would've liked. I think I could've hit 10:15 though. My goal at the end of the season is 9:25-9:35. Am I being too ambitious or do I still have hope? Is a one minute drop from the beginning of season to end possible for 2 milers?
My base was cut short about a month due to a hamstring sprain. X-trained like crazy and have came back now, but my coach is putting me into the repeat work (ie: 5x800 and longer intervals) when I feel like I should up my mileage again and leave off on the speed. Or will I be fine doing the repeat work now while upping my mileage at the same time? (Was running 45 miles a week before hamstring sprain. Planning to get back up to 50 miles a week over the next three weeks.)
