I'm training for high school track and fields. I've only started a year or so ago so I'm kind of a beginner though I've trained the entire last year. I became lazy after the Cross Country season and didn't run at all for 3 months. Now Track is starting and the first meet is in 6 weeks.
I plan to compete in the 1500m, 400m and I can race in one more though I'm not sure which other one yet; maybe the 200m or 3000m.
So I am pretty fit, at least I was 3 months ago when I ran almost everyday. I just ran for 30 minutes a few days ago and my chest/heart was hurting (maybe because it was very cold) and the next day my muscles were all sore. My coach is gone now and the new coach doesn't specialize in Track so he can't help much with workouts.
Can someone provide me with a 6 week workout plan for mainly the 1500m and 400m races? And which other race should I compete in; the 200m or 3000m? I find the 800m to difficult and 100m is too short and I don't like relays. Or do you recommend me just race the 1500 and 400?
And by the way, the race in 6 weeks is actually only a practice meet. There will be 4 practice meets, 1 each week. So the elimination rounds will actually be in around 10 weeks from now.
Thank you.
