New Minimalism: I don't wash my hair anymore, who else has gone withOUT hair washing?

Sounds like you're still washing your hair, just not with a product. Tons of people do it, and there are a few studies out there that show washing with just water (no soap or shampoo) is just as effective at removing bacteria.

Try showering without soap. It's easy, fast, and clean. I only use a bar of soap for my armpits, genitals and butthole.

If I have product in my hair (which is not often), I use shampoo.

Otherwise, I use a little dab of shampoo; otherwise my hair feels too oily.

You're still washing your hair, fool. Try going a few weeks without rinsing (washing) it.

Your hair smells if you don't use shampoo, fact.

I put mine up in dreadlocks so that I don't be bothered with washing it no mo. It looks good on a white guy, too. Chill. Peace out.

i have been doing this for a while. when my hair is short i won't use any product on it for a couple weeks at a time, when its longer though i gotta actually wash it like once a week.

actually, that was until last summer when my sister-in-law pointed out that my hair looks and feels like straw. she agrees with using shampoo at most once a week but said i gotta use conditioner everyday else my hair dries out and is god awful.

but yeah, shampoo sucks.

I have not washed my hair with anything other than water in 4 or 5 years. The hair takes a few months to get back to normal, but is fine after that. And, no, it doesn't smell as long as you shower regularly.

Yeah I wash mine once every three weeks or so with soap/shampoo but other than that I rinse it every day, twice for doubles.

No one freaking died from a small dab of shampoo with some perfume and little deodorant. Seriously. If our ancestors smelled so damn good perfumes wouldn't have been so sought after. Spend a freaking dollar on some shampoo and give us a break. If I wanted to smell you I'd simply shove my finger up my butthole, and then into my nose.

which is true minimalism--to shave the head (no hair) or to let the hair grow as long as it wishes, never cutting it (nor washing it, of course)??

I havent washed my in a long time. I have long curly hair. I have to take 2 showers at the school each day. I've asked people if my hair stinks, and it doesn't. I rinse it. It just smells like hair. The ladies never complain about it.

If I don't wash it, my hair actually hurts.

No, actually we don't. I haven't used shampoo in at least 2 years and girls always tell me they love my hair. People smelled bad BITD because they never bathed at all

I was asked last week what I used in the shower to wash my hair. I told my friends I don't wash my hair and they seemed to be blown away. I would be kinda shocked too if my hair were any longer than 1/2 inch. I buzz my hair since I have a horrible callick/cowlick and can't do anything with my hair. I just "wash" my hair like I do any other body part. Wash cloth and soap.

Check out Adam Carolla's book/audiobook. He has a part where he talks about washing hair. He has a theory on hair washing and that we shampoo and use "product" in our hair way too f*cking much. Funny stuff. Worth checking out.

Me too! I haven't used shampoo in years with no problem. I don't use soap either. (Actually I never even use water)
