I'm planning to purchase prescription sunglasses that I would use while running. I would like the "non slip" kind with a rubber nose piece and ear sock. My regular glases are progressive (tri-focal without the lines)but thinking of buying a single (distance) lense.
What do you have that works for you and if you like transitions or have a specific tint you like?

Both the regular and perscription models are top notch.
I've had my pair for 4 years, replaced scratched lenses, bit other than that the take a beating and are always ready.
My training partner has had 2 pairs with perscription lenses and swears by them.
I just looked at the Rudy's online. Do you have the sunglasses with the detachable insert or direct rx?

I have some adidas gazelle a129. You can get an Rx insert for them. Adidas has some other newer models in the Adizero category that might work well check it out

I have rx lenses in Ray-Ban frames. I've had several pairs of specialty "running" glasses, but prefer just a good quality pair of "real" sunglasses.
get dirt cheap prescriptions from china from zenni optical in frisco. the sun prescriptions glasses are made in china then sent to frisco. zenni mails them from frisco. takes less than 2 weeks.

I went down this road, and ended up with contacts and non prescription sun glasses. Is there a reason you can't use contacts? I'm sorry I waited so long to try them.

Second this. Contact lenses w/non-prescription Oakleys have been absolutely essential for me. Probably took a year to fully adapt to the contacts, but it's been so much easier having contacts. And I can take off the shades if I need or want to (~gets shady or running early morning or evening when the sun sets). I nap with my contacts in too, but take them out at night. I wouldn't waste your money on prescription shades-- just get contact lenses.
I have not thought about contacts because I wear 'progressive type" lenses in my regular glasses, which have three focal points, so they are tri-focals without the lines. I'll still look into this further since i'd prefer non-prescription sunglasses. I just wouldn't be able to see clearly close up with single vision contacts/lenses which isn't a problem while running, but would need to pull the contacts back out after running and then put my regular glasses back on.
