Any knowledge of this malady?
One of our better athletes a few years ago found out they had this. At first, her medical people thought it was a blood sugar problem. It seemed like either she would win a race, or make it nearly to the end - and fall down. Luckily, her parents quickly found a much better doctor, who diagnosed her with POTS. Their advice was to stop competing, which she did. There was some confusion initially, as she had never experienced any real difficulties in training. But what she went through in races could be dramatic, so there was no doubt retiring was in her best interest.
Is simply stopping the only good option? Are there treatments?
