Pegasus 27 = Peroneal tendonitis?

Mizuno Rider or Precision

I wore Pegasus for two years and developed a bad case of posterior tibial tendonitis. If you try on a pair of Frees and then Pegasus, you'll notice how built up and restrictive the Pegasus shoes are. I have recently switched to Saucony Kinvara's and they allow the ankle to move more naturally and I'm able to run moderately.

I had the same. Wear the mizunos wave rider 13 or 14.

I tried the Kinvara, made it worse.

Just got a pair of WR14s and they changed everything, so much better now.

This is coming from a guy who has had uncontrollable peroneal tendonitis for 4+ months.

Seems an easy desition Mizuno Wave Rider 13 or 14.

The problem is that I don´t think that brand is sell in Colombia.

Prehaps it can be send, will find out.

Now I have to return the nikes.

Hey Welp I'm having peroneal tendonitis as well and it's hampering my Boston training. Did the Wave Rider make the difference or did you do anything else? I'll try the Wave Rider but want to get over this as soon as possible. Any advice you could share would be much appreciated.

Mizuno Wave Rider or Brooks Ghost

i'm a forefoot striker and i got the 27's and ive run in them 10-15 times in several months and i hate them. i run in mayflys, kinvaras, and asics ds trainer 15s typically and they all work well, the ds trainers being probably the worst. the kinvaras were great for a long time (200 miles) but part of the sole wore out so much (under the head of my pinkie toes) that if messed with my form

you obviously know nothing about shoes, nor can read. the pegasus is amazingly different from the kinvara, the dstrainer, and mayfly. Good thing you have one shoe from all the categories except cinderblock.

I tried the pegasus (26/27?) and took them back. Exchanged them for the Brooks Ghost 3. The pegasus is nice and soft, but too high. The Ghost is stiffer, but lower to the road.

I actually recently bought the ghost but exchanged for the pegasus. I actually compared the midsole heights and the ghost has a thicker midsole, so it actually is higher than the pegasus. You might get that impression because the ghost is firmer, so it may "feel" like you are closer to the ground.

I think the pegasus gets a bad rap for being a high heeled, non-minimalist shoe but the current version (Pegasus 27) is probably one of the most basic, minimal shoes in the neutral-cushioned category. I am a midfoot striker and these work perfectly, the heel to toe differential isn't high at all. I also like the fact that there is no enormous bridge in the arch of the bottom of the shoe, which feels awkward when you're a midfoot striker.

Hey Boomer -

I had a really severe case; I was in a boot for 8 weeks, ankle brace for four more. I recently (2 weeks ago) came back to running in the Brooks launch. The ankle pain came back (not really badly but noticably), and I posted a thread here (different handle, ARGH i think) asking for advice. Got a couple recommendations for a stiffer neutral shoe; went to the LRS and tried 7-8 different pairs, and settled on the WR14.

That seems to be working well for me. I am up to 30 minute runs at the moment, will probably go 20-25 miles this week as I build back up.

Anyway, the current routine that is working for me (YMMV of course) is 10-15 minutes in a warm whirlpool, run in wave riders, 10 minutes or so of ice massage (ice in dixie cup). I still have occasional soreness but nothing like what I was experiencing at the end of last summer.
