I'm going to assume you're a runner because you're posting on LRC. Having said that, odds are the problem has way more to do with what you're doing when you're running than with what you're doing when you aren't running. Try to fix what happens when you run.

vibram five toes = hand gloves?
Why not just walk barefoot instead of spending 100 dollars. Unless you are talking outside the house, then why not get a normal looking pair of shoes that have no support anf very flexible. That is, if you want to have people talk to you
Honestly? If you don't get the problem under control before you start wearing them, it's probably going to make it worse. And this coming from someone who wears them regularly.
I'm not medically trained and have never suffered PF, however, nothing in my experience or reading would indicate this in and of itself will help your PF.
If you want to wear casual shoes with same non-support of V5Fingers, but not look like dork, try these

(for less $ as an added bonus)
I'm not sure with Vibram Five Fingers. I wear Zem Gear shoes instead for my plantar faciitis.

Hope this helps.
Or, you could try walking across hot coals or a bed of nails. These practices have been proven to be as effective.
