There are quite a few of those Chinese character tattoos going around that mean something entirely different than what the wearer thinks they mean. I read about this a while ago. The tattoo artists write something like "I'm a dumb white boy" in characters that the dumb white boy getting the tattoo can't read. So the guy thinks he has some tough guy slogan or some piece of ancient Chinese zen wisdom scrawled across his shoulder, but he really has something insulting about himself inked permanently on his own body.
You meant to say "EVERYONE" instead of "IDIOTS." Unless you are a pirate, they are beyond lame.

When he's not scoring offside goals against Sunderland, Stoke City striker John Carew likes to head down to the local tattoo parlour, but unfortunately for the Norwegian international his latest bit of ink is proving to be a pain in the neck.
The striker's new daubing reads 'Ma Vie, Mes Régles', which in theory translate as 'My Life, My Rules'. However, a French professor at the University of Oslo has pointed out that the use of the acute accent over the word 'Régles', rather than the grave accent (è), dramatically changes the meaning to 'My Life, My Period' or 'My Life, My Menstruation'.

Before any member of the Stoke squad breaks the news to the 6'5" colossus we suggest they bear in mind that it's Carew's life and Carew's rules so Carew can spell it however the hell he likes.

I read an article several years ago that touched upon doctors who were getting a lot of business in laser tattoo removal. A doctor recounted a story of a woman with a Chinese character tattoo who was getting a lot of attention from Chinese men.
Someone finally let her know that the symbol was a slang term for prostitute.
i understand very rudimentary hebrew, and you have no idea how much mish-mash i've seen tattooed on gentile idiots... stuff that would be akin to "ajkdfajkd" in english. i really could care less about tattoos (i actually have one), but getting a tattoo representative of somebody else's culture is beyond lame. that prostitute story is hilarious.

No surprise the quoted professor is teaching French in Oslo and you're making yourself look stupid on a message board. It's a typo that doesn't mean anything, you and Miss Salvesen should both go back to French 101.

Correct: his tattoo has the wrong accent on the e but it doesn't change the meaning from "rule" to "period/menstruation." It's just a wrong accent...no story here. Move along...
