Coming back from a 2-month layoff by alternating bike and run days. What I need is to build my aerobic capacity again, not just to maintain it, like if my injury had just happened. I hope to be running every day within 10-12 days or so. Right now I'm supposed to do 30-40 minute runs every other day.
Here is the bike workout my coach gave me for today, to be repeated every other day:
-warmup: 10 minutes at 100-105 RPM, keep HR under 150
-intervals: 5 minutes "on" at 110-112 RPM, keep HR 165-170 (adjust resistance as needed) / 10 minutes "off" same RPM and HR as warmup
-continue 5 on / 10 off until 60:00 - then steady moderate (somewhere between "on" & "off") until 90:00 (or until I can't maintain at least the warmup/"off" intensity)
Does this sound like a good workout?
