It seems like it might have made more sense to put Rupp with the group of guys under Schumacher and Lomong with Webb and Wheating.
Anyways, these are the two distance teams that are going to dominate USA distance track for a while. Both look solid, and will likely add folks like Centro, Derrick, Fernandez, Verzbikas in the future I would imagine.
I'm pretty sure Wheating is not in the Salazar group. He's in the OTC - Eugene group and I think Lanana is coaching him.
So without Wheating, I'd definitely have to give the edge to the Schumacher group, mainly on account of Solinsky.
Way to leave out Ritz.

Only because of Solinsky would I go with Shumacher.
I think Overall though the potential is greater with Salazar's group. I think this will be the year to finally see what each group can do seeing as how Ritz, Rupp and Webb will be focusing on the track.
Salazar's group is smaller, but, aside from Goucher, their big 3 of Rupp, Webb, and Ritz are the absolute cream of the crop - the 3 biggest buzz-generating, phenom prospects of the last decade (Solinsky could be in this group, too, though)
Shumacher's group seems to be the biggest studs of the other years during the decade - the ones who were maybe a step below Ritz, Webb, and Rupp, but really blossomed later and might have the same amount of potential.
If you're including women, don't Shalane and Lisa Koll train with Shumacher?

Evan Jager tweeted a few weeks ago that Lomong joined their group. Between he and Bumbi, they've added some nice middle distance talent to the group.

I was hoping there wouldn't be this Salazar vs Schumacher discussion. They should be joining forces. Sharing training and race strategies. Our goal is still the same: beat the Africans. In case you hadn't heard, a 17 yr old ran 12:53 indoors. That should be sending chills down your nerves because you and I both know there's more where that came from.
We need to beat the East Africans and consistently. That should be the goal in all the camps in the US. Beat them. Forget times. Just beat them.
Then talk about who is a better coach.
There should be a rivalry with them that would rival the Ethiopian/Kenyan rivalry. That is what we need. Not bickering over small shit.

This mentality is one of the many reasons track isn't popular in America
I'd go with Jerry's crew, I will take good old fashioned hard training day in day out over gadgets, cryochambers, alter-G's, and the rest of the "science" to complement the training...Plus, a lot of Alberto's people do workouts and train alone, how the hell are they gonna catch the Africans by doing that?

Good post, almost gives it the white collar vs blue collar feel that is discussed so much on LR.
I would put my money on Shumacher.
