Looks like Nelson did that 28 mile run with Flanagan and then went on the next week (2 weeks later?) to run 7:49... looking pretty fresh. Why aren't people giving him a hard time?

But really I find it quite humorous that somebody would claim to know more than Jerry or Shalane about what's best for her training. They have pretty good credentials for knowing WTF they're doing.

From the article it sounds like they ran it together. Nelson has a 10,000 PR nearly 3 minutes faster than Shalane and a marathon PR 13 minutes faster than Shalane. So if they did in fact run the same pace, it would be a much easier workout for Nelson.

I'm half willing to bet that the writer meant, ""Flanagan, who recently completed a 28-mile training run, along with with the OTC’s Tim Nelson, will run in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials next January."
Flanagan recently ran a 28 miler.
Flanagan and Nelson are both running the marathon trials in January.
If so, that is a terrible sentence.
